Does packaging EPR in Czechia apply to you?

Who counts as the "producer" in Czechia?
Under the Czech packaging rules, the producer is the business that first puts filled packaging on the Czech market — typically you, the seller shipping to Czech consumers. You are responsible for joining an authorised packaging company and reporting the packaging you place on the market. Selling through a marketplace does not remove this obligation for your own packaging.
Where you register: the authority and the PRO
In Czechia these two steps are combined in one place: you join EKO-KOM, the authorised packaging company (the PRO) that operates under the national packaging framework. You complete the registration form, sign a collective-compliance contract, pay the system registration fee, and receive your EKO-KOM client number and certificate. From then on you report your packaging quantities quarterly against the EKO-KOM tariff.

Do you need an authorised representative in Czechia?
Yes — and this is the smooth part. A foreign EU company registers through EKO-KOM's dedicated authorised-representative route, designed specifically for companies established in another EU member state that need to conclude a contract for extended producer responsibility. What it costs in Czechia (indicative)
There are three separate costs, and we keep them transparent:
- The EKO-KOM registration fee (indicative, CZK). The system registration/record fee is around CZK 1,600 + VAT (roughly CZK 800 administration plus CZK 800 to the state environmental fund). We keep this in Czech koruna (CZK) — indicative and confirmed live at quote.
- Material-based fees. The variable packaging fee is invoiced from your quarterly quantities using the current EKO-KOM price list, so the rest depends on how much of each material you put on the market. We use the live tariff for your reporting quarter rather than an old rate.
- Pakkausvastuu's package fee. Your fee follows our package pricing, with official statutory, PRO, authorised-representative and notary fees passed through at cost. Where several countries are simple, we bundle them; genuinely complex countries are quoted separately.
